Daniel F. Hoffmann, FACHE, Network Director

The Secretary of Veterans Affairs appointed Mr. Daniel Hoffmann as the Network Director of Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN 6) in May 2000.  Mr. Hoffmann serves as the Chief Executive Officer of VA Health care facilities in North Carolina, Virginia and Beckley, West Virginia, serving a population of 1.4 million veterans.  He oversees approximately 11,000 staff in eight hospitals and 10 community-based outpatient clinics.  VISN 6 is also a major provider of graduate medical education and research.

Al Brese, Deputy Network Director for Finance and Administration

Al Brese was appointed Deputy Network Director for Finance and Administration for the VA Mid-Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6) , effective February 2004.  In this role, he is responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction to the activities of the Network's Chief Financial Officer, Chief Logistics Officer, Capital Assets Manager, Planning Manager, Decision Support System and the medical care cost recovery fund.  Prior to this appointment as DND, Mr. Brese served as Chief Financial Officer for the VISN from 1996 - 2004.

Mark Shelhorse, MD, Deputy Network Director for Clinical Operations/Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Mark Shelhorse was appointed Deputy Network Director for Clinical Operations/Chief Medical Officer for the VA Mid-Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6) in 2000. Dr. Shelhorse's network duties and responsibilities include Clinical Operations Program Oversight, Chairperson, VISN Chiefs of Staff Council and Credentialing and Privileging/Waiver Requests.
